The Business and Technology Division plays a vital role in preparing students for their vocational careers. Experience has demonstrated the importance of not only career specific skills but also a background in general education for all students. The Division has many career specific programs such as Administration of Justice, Automotive Technology, Business, that include General Business, Accounting, Business Law, Investments, Business Mathematics, Management, Marketing, Oral and Written Communications, and Real Estate courses, Computer Integrated Electronics, Computer Integrated Systems, Computer Science, Construction Technology, Engineering Support Technology, Technical Education and Fire Technology & Health Sciences.

In a society that has become obese, inactive and malnourished, it becomes imperative that we understand the ramifications of our lifestyle decisions. Diabetes, heart disease, cancer and strokes are just some of the leading causes of death in the United States that can be prevented via lifestyle changes. In addition, with leisure time increasing and disposable incomes rising recreation and leisure activities become more important than ever. Physical activities, including competitive sports, are important for the overall health and wellness of the mind and body.

The departments of the Liberal Arts Division work together to offer classes and programs of study that help students develop an intellectual curiosity upon which to build a foundation for many different educational and career paths. Our courses challenge students to think critically, to synthesize information and ideas across disciplinary boundaries, and to continually evaluate their own roles as students and citizens of the world. Through its classes, programs, and majors, the Liberal Arts Division supports all aspects of the mission of California Community Colleges and the Sierra Community College District, helping students realize their potential through innovative interdisciplinary educational programs in the arts, languages, humanities, social/ behavioral sciences, and vocational education (e.g., welding, photography, drama, etc.).
This division also includes the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, with noncredit courses designed for adults age 55 and over
Sciences & Mathematics

The Division of Sciences and Mathematics prepares students for a variety of lifelong educational opportunities from career and technical education, to allied health professions and transfer opportunities. Students throughout the division are prepared for an increasingly complex and technological world that has at its foundation, math and science. The division also plays a significant role in outreach and service to our community through the Sierra College Natural History Museum, Astronomy shows and public speaker series.
Departments in the division of Sciences and Mathematics include: Astronomy, Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Horticulture, Forestry, Geography, Earth Sciences, Interdisciplinary Studies, Mathematics, Natural Resources, Natural Science, Nursing, Nutritionand Food Science, and Physics.
